here are many catch phrases, slogans, or one-liners used in automotive advertising. Which one is your favorite?
I always enjoyed the 90s Infiniti ad slogan "Own one and you will understand."

I love the ironic "Wake Up and Drive" coming from a dying automaker named Mitsubishi. It'll start pushing up daises soon.

I'll be the first to say it... "simplify and add lightness."
Not just because it rolls off the tongue, but because it signified a huge paradigm shift in thinking. Suddenly, 'lightness' was a premium feature. You made a car light as a way of improving it, rather than because of its lack of something. It's a brilliant advertising slogan, and it really shows the benefit of a Lotus over pretty much anything else. "My Mercedes has a loud horn! My Ford has a V8! My Ferrari sounds amazing!" But the Lotus is light .
If someone looked at a lotus, their first complaint would be "It's not comfortable or big. It doesn't have lots of features or a powerful engine! Why is this worth my time? Why couldn't I get a car that was far more powerful with lots of more features. I don't need a race car. That's for weirdos who are okay with soot on their face. I'm buying a car for the road! What could your company's car possibly do that my car couldn't?"
"Simpify, and add lightness".
Now, 60 years later, lightness is pretty damn expensive, and highly desired in pretty much every performance car.

I'm a bit partial to 80s Nissan's obsession with the word "awesome".
Along every other slogan they used in Z31 TV ads.

I suppose this one is pretty obvious, but "The Ultimate Driving Machine" was always my favorite. That is, until BMW stopped making Driving Machines.
Now, my favorite is Porsche's: "There is no substitute."

This is the best piece of automotive advertising ever. Nothing, I mean absolutely nothing has more mass appeal than dogs. As a matter of fact, I am going to watch those videos right now.

Oh, Mitsubishi's consumer market is definitely dying over here in the Kiwi Land. Mitsubishi doesn't advertise their cars on telly anymore, and besides the Lancer EVO, their other latest consumer cars (Pajero, Challenger, ASX, etc.) are rarely seen. It's Mitsubishi's commercial vehicles (utes and MPVs) and oldies that are still around and seen often. I kept questioning why Mitsubishi is still in business.

Sadly, the slogan proved longer lived than the brand...

Window stickers on new cars should have the weight in giant print instead of the MPG. I bet that would change people's thinking. After all, it takes more energy to move more weight, no matter where that energy comes from.
